Frequently Asked Questions

Can I switch between IR and RF mode on my lamp?

Yes — with certain models.

If you have purchased our RF Mode (Premium) cordless table lamp, you have the flexibility to switch the lamp into IR Mode if required.

To do so, simply:

Press and hold the ON/OFF button on the lamp base for approximately 4 seconds.

The lamp will change operating mode, allowing you to use standard IR remote control functionality.

This feature offers added versatility for venues that may wish to simplify control in certain areas, or where mixed-use operation is preferred.

Important to Note

If you have purchased an IR Mode lamp, this operates on dedicated infrared hardware and cannot be upgraded or switched to RF Mode.

RF Mode requires specific internal components designed for radio frequency communication, group control, and extended range functionality.

In Summary

  • RF Mode (Premium) Lamp → Can switch to IR Mode
  • IR Mode Lamp → Cannot switch to RF Mode

If you are unsure which model you have, or require guidance on selecting the correct control option for your venue, our team would be delighted to assist.

What is the main difference between IR and RF mode?

IR (Infrared) Mode requires the remote to be pointed directly at the lamp and is designed for individual control.

RF (Radio Frequency) Mode does not require line-of-sight and allows you to control multiple lamps simultaneously, including grouping and zone management — ideal for restaurants, hotels and larger venues.

Do I need line-of-sight to operate the lamp?
  • IR Mode: Yes, the remote must be aimed at the lamp.
  • RF Mode: No. The signal works through furniture, table settings and obstacles.

For busy hospitality environments, RF mode provides greater ease and efficiency during service.

Can I control multiple lamps at the same time?
  • IR Mode: Lamps are controlled individually.
  • RF Mode: Yes. You can synchronise multiple lamps, create zones (e.g. Bar, Dining Room, Terrace), and adjust them instantly.

This is particularly valuable for venues operating 20+ lamps.

What warm white colour options are available?

RF Mode lamps offer adjustable fine-dining colour temperatures:

  • 2000K – Deep candlelight glow
  • 2400K – Warm golden ambience
  • 2700K – Classic refined warm white

These settings allow venues to curate atmosphere throughout lunch, early evening and dinner service.

IR models operate at a fixed warm white setting - 2700K only (depending on model specification).

What is the operating range of each mode?
  • IR Mode: Approximately 3–5 metres.
  • RF Mode: Up to 20–30 metres, depending on environment.

RF is therefore recommended for larger dining spaces or multi-room venues.

Is RF mode more suitable for fine dining restaurants?

Yes. RF Mode is specifically designed for high-end hospitality environments where ambience consistency and operational efficiency are essential. It allows instant adjustment across an entire venue without disrupting guests.

Can I mix IR and RF lamps in the same venue?

Yes, however they will operate independently.

IR lamps cannot be grouped with RF lamps. For full synchronisation across a space, all lamps should be RF Mode.

Does RF mode affect battery life?

No. Battery performance remains consistent. Both IR and RF models are engineered for extended operating time suitable for full service periods.

Is RF mode more complicated to use?

Not at all. While RF offers advanced features such as grouping and colour adjustment, day-to-day operation is intuitive and designed for hospitality staff efficiency.

Which mode is best for me?

Choose IR Mode if you require simple, individual lamp control in a smaller space.
Choose RF Mode (Premium) if you operate multiple lamps, require zone control, or wish to adjust colour temperature for elevated ambience refinement.
